MIND BODY SPIRIT
Dr. Christi Lindsay
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I love working with people and helping them grow, overcome obstacles, and discover themselves. I am here to help you with whatever you are struggling with - to help you feel better and be more settled and in control of your life and your future. I feel priveliged to be part of this process and look forward to working with you. I work primarily online through video-conferencing, a format made available to us through new technologies and one that provides a high degree of flexibility without sacrificing any of the efficacy of the process or quality in the therapeutic relationship. If you are struggling with something and need a partner to help you along your path, please contact me and we can see whether we might be a good fit for each other.
A little about my background: I am a Doctor of Psychology and Licensed Clinical Psychologist in both New York and California. I have more than 10 years of experience in numerous and varied clinical settings working with a wide range of clientele including college and university counseling centers, County Mental Health facilities, and private counseling environments. I have experience with adults and adolescents and expertise in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, women's issues, stress, and employ a mixed methods approach including psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral, and time-limited methodologies, depending on the needs of the individual client. All that is to say that I have the training and experience to help you work through whatever challenges you are facing.
Let's face it; relationships are hard. They take commitment and time and energy and work in order to succeed and grow. Sometimes messages can be confusing or intentions unclear; sometimes communication can get bogged down in hurt feelings or misunderstandings; at times it may be unclear whether a relationship is worth saving. I can help you identify and understand the patterns and cycles of your relationship and develop communication or behavioral strategies to break unhealthy patterns and begin to develop more positive new ones that will foster more happiness, more connection, and more positivity. This change will inevitably impact every other area of you and your partners' lives!
Early adulthood is an incredibly complex and often confusing time. The scale and scope of the choices required in love, career, identity, and family during the transition from childhood to independence can be overwhelming. I will work with you to clarify your values, goals, and needs, guiding you through the process of uncovering who you and who you want to be so you can make purposeful and positive choices to move you toward the future you want as the person you want to become. I can help you manage your relationships with friends, family, and romantic partners. I can help you process and overcome hurt in your past so you can be better ready for pleasure in your future, to process frustration in your present so you cna be ready for successes to come.
There is a huge focus in our culture on pregnancy and childbirth, with little attention paid to the period after birth, what is often a lonely, confusing, and frustrating time for a new mother. It can be extremely challenging to manage the emotions, depression, and expectations of this period and it can be enormously helpful to have a support system outside the home. I am the mother of a 14 month-old boy and so I understand the challenges of early motherhood. I would like nothing more than to help you process and work through the complex mix of emotions and challenges during this time. It is wonderful, but it is also difficult and a partner outside the home can be a positive, stabilizing force that can make everything a little easier to balance and manage.
